Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen sponsors high school student from Olympia as House page
Olympia High School student, Blake Bradford, recently spent a week at the state Capitol in Olympia to serve as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. He was sponsored by Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen of the 25th Legislative District.
“I enjoyed working with Blake this week. He did an exceptional job,” said Jacobsen, R-Puyallup. “He is hard-working and attentive, and I’m confident he has a bright future ahead of him. I wish him all the best.”
In addition to working with Jacobsen as a page, Blake attended Legislative Page School every day to learn about the three branches of state government, the lawmaking process, and the importance of civil discourse.
He also had the opportunity to carry out numerous important duties that help the Legislature operate efficiently, including delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff, and assisting on the House floor.
Blake, who is 16 years old, enjoys a wide variety of activities, art, outdoor walks, and working with youngsters in child care.
“The page program is a great way for students to get an up-close look at how the Legislature operates, said Jacobsen. “I look forward to hosting more of these exceptional young men and women in the future.”
Each year, students from around Washington apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $65 per day while serving in the program.
