Puyallup student spends a week in Olympia serving as a House page

Stahl Junior High School student Kannon Williams recently served as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives.

Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen, R-Puyallup, sponsored Kannon’s participation in the legislative page program.

“Having students like Kannon participate in this program helps us connect the work we do here in Olympia with the communities we serve,” said Jacobsen. “Kannon was diligent and responsible and was a pleasure to work with.”

During his week in Olympia, Kannon performed essential legislative duties, including delivering time-sensitive documents to representatives during floor sessions, facilitating communication between offices, and assisting with the day-to-day functioning of the Legislature.

Between these responsibilities, Kannon also attended page school, where students gained a comprehensive understanding of Washington’s legislative system.

When not engaged in academic or civic pursuits, Kannon, who is 14, enjoys Anime, going for long walks, and playing volleyball.

“This program is a great learning opportunity for these young students,” said Jacobsen. “This kind of hands-on civics experience can play a big role in these kids’ future endeavors.”

The legislative page program serves as an important bridge between Washington’s youth and their state government, fostering civic engagement and providing practical educational experiences.
