Stahl Junior High student works as a House page at the state Capitol
Cohen Kliemann, a student at Stahl Junior High School, recently traveled to Olympia to serve as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. Sponsored by Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen, R-Puyallup, Cohen spent a week learning about the legislative process while helping with the daily work of the House.
“The House Page Program is a wonderful opportunity for students, and I was a pleasure to sponsor Cohen,” said Jacobsen. “He was always ready to learn and did a great job. I hope he enjoyed his time in Olympia.”
During his week as a page, Cohen delivered messages and documents, helped on the House floor, and worked with legislative staff. He also attended page school, where he got a closer look at how laws are made and how state government works.
Outside of school, the 14-yer-old Cohen enjoys athletic activities, especially soccer.
“It’s great to have these young people, like Cohen, come the Capitol and learn more about state government,” said Jacobsen. “I always enjoy meeting and working with students from our district.”
The House Page Program gives students ages 14 to 16 the chance to experience the legislative process up close. For more information, click here.
