Rep. Jacobsen: Government shouldn’t exempt itself from regulations
Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen, R-Puyallup, spoke on the House floor about regulations the Legislature passes that apply to businesses but exempt state government.
“I’m troubled by the fact that we are not applying this to ourselves,” said Jacobsen. “We often pass things that have unintended consequences on our businesses, and then we’re not willing to follow the particular law ourselves, and that worries me.”
In this case, House Bill 1170 would place regulations on artificial intelligence systems that may be unworkable and quickly obsolete. The bill exempts government.
