Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen speaks in support of Washington state taking advantage of millions of dollars for K-12 education

Rep. Cyndy Jacobsen, R-Puyallup, spoke on the House floor in support of Washington state taking advantage of an estimated $732 million in federal K-12 scholarship tax credits to help working- and middle-class families pay for educational support at private or public schools.

Her remarks were during House floor debate on amendments to House Bill 5998, the supplemental operating budget.

The majority party did not adopt the amendment, which would have created a Washington Student Achievement Council workgroup to recommend qualified scholarship-granting organizations eligible to provide tax credit scholarships.

Washington state must act soon to ensure families could benefit in the 2027 tax year.
