Dear Friends and Neighbors,
There are nine days left in the 2026 legislative session, and we will be voting on the floor and fighting for good government — sometimes late into the night — during each of them.
In my next update, I will focus on the state budget and the impact of bills that are passing.
But for the moment, I wanted to share some good things about Washington and the people who call our state home.
I’ve recently welcomed important visitors to the Capitol, and I’ve appreciated meeting each of you.
A Capitol welcome to the Daffodil Festival princesses
This session, I sponsored House Resolution 4671 to honor the Daffodil Festival, which has been a part of our community for 93 years.
Twenty-four high school students are selected to serve as princesses in the Daffodil Festival royal court, and one of them will be chosen to serve as queen in a special coronation on March 14.
The Daffodil Festival princesses visited the Capitol, and I was so glad to meet these lovely young women, each with an amazing résumé.
During her term, each princess will focus on community service and civic pride, and I am sure each will be a great role model for youth around our region.

Growing leadership and agriculture: Future farmers visit the Capitol
I also recently welcomed members of Emerald Ridge High School’s Future Farmers of America club.
This FFA chapter is another group of amazing young people, and they are gaining valuable leadership skills as they learn about the agricultural industry.
These young people’s work recognizes the important role that agriculture continues to have in the 25th District. Farming is truly a way of life. They give us food and teach us to appreciate and steward the land.
I know that FFA members have opportunities to compete at the local, district, and state levels, and I hope to see them at the Washington State Fair this year. Do the Puyallup!

Make homeownership more attainable
Finally, representatives of the Master Builders Association visited my Olympia office to discuss their work to increase our housing supply and what they need from the state.
A report last year estimated that the median home price in Washington would be over $900,000 by 2030. This would make us the fifth-most expensive state in the country!
Government regulations, taxes, and fees all increase our housing costs, which harms homeowners and renters alike.
I know it is possible to turn the tide on our affordability crisis if the state is a careful trustee of taxpayer money and makes wise decisions that encourage our housing supply to grow.
I will continue working for budget restraint and a regulatory environment that gives everyone who wants to buy a home the opportunity to do so.

Thank you for reading my legislative update, and for allowing me to serve as your state representative.
Please contact me if you would like to talk about our district or the state.
Sincerely,

Cyndy Jacobsen
